This evaluation involves at least one interview, questionnaires, and assessments that help the professional identify any potential mental health conditions and a treatment plan to help the individual improve their mental health and overall quality of life.

An emotional support animal (ESA) is a companion animal that provides therapeutic benefits to an individual with a mental or emotional disability. A needs assessment is required to determine if an individual qualifies for an ESA. This assessment includes a review of the individual's medical history and a mental health evaluation. If the individual meets the criteria for an ESA, a letter will be provided to the individual.
